MUSICAL BRAIN SCAN SERIES: MARLON RABENREITHER (GOLD STAR)
Dear sixties souls, we're very thrilled to introduce you today a new Musical Brain Scan! We hope that these first 30 days of January have been good to you! For this new episode we would like to introduce Marlon Rabenreither, the one behind Gold Star.
We asked him a short description of his musical project, here it is, in hiw own words:
"On Gold Star’s new song and video “Wild Boys,” the Vienna-born, Hollywood-bred artist wanted to tap into the style of his early records like 2017’s Big Blue and 2018’s Uppers & Downers. The process of its creation, the studio sessions and collaborative back and forths, stand in contrast to the pandemic-forced nature of isolated sessions and bedroom recordings that formed the bulk of Headlights U.S.A. Rabenreither taps into his literary roots on “Wild Boys,” paying homage to William S. Burroughs in the same way some of his earlier songs echoed the seedy LA noir stories of Raymond Chandler. “The title is actually copped from a William Burroughs book called The Wild Boys.
The track comes out the same day as a new Gold Star show, set for tonight at Zebulon in Los Angeles. The song was recorded to mirror the energy Gold Star captured during live sets, and it's in this raw intensity that “Wild Boys” shines as one of Marlon Rabenreither’s strongest songs to date."
