MUSICAL BRAIN SCAN SERIES: LEROY JAMES CLAMPITT
Dear Sixties Souls, we’re very thrilled to present a new Musical Brain Scan.
For this episode, we would like to introduce Leroy James Clampitt.
New Zealand-born and Los Angeles-based, he is a singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist whose work has appeared across records by artists including Madison Beer, Sabrina Carpenter, Laufey, Lily Allen and Ashe.
After years spent helping shape the music of others, Leroy recently turned the focus towards his own project with the release of his debut solo album, Get Happy, through his independent label Sorry Susan Records.
Largely written, performed and produced by Leroy himself, the album moves through love, work, burnout and the everyday highs and lows of life, revealing a more personal side of an artist usually found behind the scenes.
That shift feels central to the project. Rather than stepping away from collaboration, Get Happy opens another side of Leroy’s musical world — one where his instincts as a producer and songwriter are given more room to unfold on their own terms. The result is a warm, detailed and deeply personal record, shaped by the same curiosity and craft that have defined his work with other artists.
